Honestly, I sat there in that Pancreatic review class and just stared at that massive, unyielding, unwieldy table of cysts cross-sectioned with types and imaging features and so on and so forth. And I just wondered how I would ever – how I could ever learn this? How could I commit all this to memory? This was massive and massively detailed and just one slide of one subtopic of one topic of one chapter of General Surgery.
How? How could I learn it all? How would I keep it in there?
I know this is a 5 year residency for a reason. But as that wave of information swept over me and I just clung onto any driftwood of buzzwords to not drown, in the back of my mind, I was trying to figure out when I would get home, eat dinner, pack lunch, if I could review any of this and whether a few hours of sleep would be enough.
