My name is Gazi Rashid. My time in medicine – the patients, the students, the struggles – has provided the stories that give meaning to the words. These stories are why I came to medical school and why I am starting a general surgery residency. Writing helps me remember the days and pay attention to the world around me.

I also want to include failures, rough drafts, and half-baked ideas, because writing – like medicine – is about a process. Sharing our successes and failures helps remind us that both are ok and neither are solely the point.
